Barcelona have joined the race to secure a Man United transfer. They could rival Real Madrid for the signature of Diogo Dalot.
Over the last few days, Real Madrid have become increasingly linked to the signing of Diogo Dalot of Man United. In fact, the latest reports even indicated Real Madrid were in contact with Man United.
However, the feeling at Real Madrid is that Diogo Dalot is the second choice. While they are open to signing the Portuguese full-back, capable of playing on both flanks, they would much prefer to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool. However, Dalot is the option, just in case.
Well, it might not be easy for Real Madrid to land Diogo Dalot, if recent news is anything to go by.
Barcelona lock horns with Real Madrid for Man United transfer
According to a report from Caught Offside, Barcelona have entered the race for Diogo Dalot. They will barge their way into the proceedings, if Diogo Dalot were to hint at a potential move away from Manchester.
It is claimed within the report that Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, could be a pivotal member in Barcelona's case. The Portuguese connection could pull Dalot to Barcelona.
On this note, we would be remiss not to mention the Portuguese influence at Man United. If Dalot is swayed by his countrymen, then he will only be swayed towards his current club. After all, Man United are not only captained by the Portuguese Bruno Fernandes, they are now managed by the Portuguese Ruben Amorim. So, the Deco argument seems redundant here.
Real Madrid have also shown an interest in signing Pedro Porro of Tottenham Hotspur. Therefore, it is safe to say that to fill the right-back role, Real Madrid are sticking within the realm of the Premier League big six.
