Real Madrid have had so many injuries this season that it has become hard to almost keep count. Not only have they lost so many players to long-term injuries like Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao, but they have also lost a number of first-team players to small, recurring injuries on multiple occasions.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was injured during the international break, and although he was supposed to be fine for the match against Leganes on Saturday, Carlo Ancelotti has given an update on the whole thing.
He said: "Courtois is a minor injury; he can recover in a few days."
There are two more players who are set to miss a couple more weeks of action at the very least. Dani Ceballos, who is expected to return sooner than expected, was still a doubt for the game against Arsenal on April 8.
Ferland Mendy got injured shortly after and was, at the very least doubtful for the Arsenal game as well. Reports said that he could play the match, but it was not confirmed.
Ancelotti has addressed these two injury issues as well, and has given Real Madrid fans a timeline for when Mendy and Ceballos will be back.
He said: "We expect Mendy and Ceballos in the first leg of the Champions League match against Arsenal."
Ceballos and Mendy's return before they face Arsenal could be huge for Real Madrid
That is huge news for Real Madrid as they go through this weird, rough patch without three of their most starters this season.
It is very good news that these two will be back for Arsenal, but only if they are not being rushed.
Ceballos is coming back from a long-term absence, and although Ancelotti is expecting him to be fit for the Arsenal match, it would be in everyone's best interest to have him on the bench if there is even a slight risk of aggravating the injury.
It remains to be seen what happens, but having these players return could only mean good things for Real Madrid.
