Real Madrid had quite a few bad performances against Roma on Wednesday night, but Endrick was not one of them. In fact, Endrick was possibly the best player alongside Arda Guler against the Italian outfit on Wednesday night, as he scored a goal, was directly involved in another, and just had tireless energy about him. That made him a difference maker for Real Madrid on the night.
Despite only playing four minutes before the match, he played an unbelievable brand of football and showed everyone that he deserves many, many more minutes than what he is currently getting. There was also a misconception about him that he absolutely buried on the night.
Everyone says Carlos Espi has been brought to Real Madrid for his physicality and aerial ability, which is absolutely true. Espi has done wonders in that regard, and he will continue to do that for the foreseeable future. Many people have also said that Endrick, despite being a striker, does not really have the aerial presence of one, which, on Wednesday night, Endrick did not agree with.
Endrick can head the ball brilliantlly
The Brazilian scored a brilliant header from a corner against Roma to equalise for the second time on the night. He also took a brilliant header just minutes before, when Espi started home the rebound. It wasn't like he was completely unmarked inside the box on a counter-attack. It was a corner with almost every single Roma player present inside their own box, and despite that, Endrick was able to pull that off, which just looked fantastic for a striker who is not the tallest.
You don't just have to be very tall to be great at heading the ball. You also have to know when to jump, how high to jump, and be able to bully the opponent despite the shorter size. If you look at centerbacks, Sergio Ramos is probably an average-sized central defender. Despite that, he was able to score a bucket load of headers for Real Madrid, which proved to be so important just because his aerial ability, his jumping, and the way he managed himself inside the box were top-notch.
Endrick is not an average-sized striker because usually strikers are taller than him, but the point stands. He knows how to present himself with the best opportunity to score, and he looks good while doing it. Real Madrid are going to need a lot from him on many occasions in the future, and Endrick will provide that without a second's doubt because he is a very talented player who can also be a brilliant aerial presence in the box when needed.
