Rodrygo, Rodrygo, Rodrygo. His name is everywhere. So much news, but so little action. Every week brings the same recycled narrative: Rodrygo’s situation with Real Madrid is complicated, the club won’t stop him if he wants to leave, he wants to stay and compete, and all the usual hype and hoorah.

In reality, Los Blancos had not received any serious offers or concrete signs of interest from clubs previously linked to the Brazilian. Until now.

According to Diario AS, newcomer Tottenham have just made the first push to begin negotiations for Rodrygo. They have formally asked Real Madrid for permission to speak directly to the player, potentially to convince him of their project.

Tottenham are the only concretely interested club in Rodrygo

Daniel Levy knows Rodrygo doesn’t want to leave just yet. He loves Real Madrid and still hopes to fight for his place, so Tottenham will need to convince the player first before they can negotiate a transfer with Madrid.

Interestingly, after all the noise around Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool, it is Tottenham who now appear the most interested and most ready to sign Rodrygo.

The Diario AS report outlines how Chelsea have now shifted their focus to Xavi Simons for the left wing. Liverpool, too, no longer consider Rodrygo a priority after turning their attention to Alexander Isak, despite previously toying with the idea of using the Brazilian as part of a “revenge plan.”

Arsenal, who once seemed solid in their pursuit, have had to reassess their financial flexibility following the signing of Viktor Gyokeres.

As of today, only Tottenham stand as a serious Premier League contender in the race for Rodrygo.

Daniel Levy, a tough negotiator, maintains a good relationship with Real Madrid. He is expected to push for a reduced fee, something under 90 million, despite Madrid valuing Rodrygo at 100 million.

It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will grant permission to Tottenham to speak with Rodrygo just yet. The club still holds full authority to deny such talks while he remains under contract.
