Florian Wirtz has signed as a Liverpool player, and honestly, it is a jackpot that Liverpool have got their hands on. He’s such a special player, and any team would benefit enormously from his addition.
Wirtz was on Real Madrid’s radar too, albeit for a very short period. He was too expensive to pursue after all the high-cost signings Madrid had already made.
Not to mention that he was one of Xabi Alonso’s best players at Bayer Leverkusen, and reuniting with the manager could have been incredible.
But it was not meant to be, I guess. At least not in this transfer window. Someday, probably? Real Madrid love annoying Liverpool anyway, so they might as well do it again in the future.
Florian Wirtz calls former Real Madrid legend his greatest teammate
In the meantime, Wirtz took questions from JD Sports and was asked about the best player he’s ever played with, and Real Madrid fans are going to love the name he picked.
Wirtz said, “Toni Kroos. He’s just unbelievable in passing and directing the game. He’s an unbelievable player.”
Wirtz has shared some minutes in the German national team with Kroos, and that is a very customary reaction for anyone who has ever played with the sniper.
Kroos’ presence, which guided the game for any team he played for, is hardly replaceable. Real Madrid, for example, are still on the lookout for a replacement for the German legend, but they’ve been unable to point to a name with certainty. They’ve simply stopped producing such players at that level.
Even Wirtz, I would say, is a player similar to Kroos but nowhere near his level and precision. I think Real Madrid miss a profile like Wirtz’s, and signing him would have solved a lot of problems, but the price tag Bayer put on him ended all Madrid interest.
