With the new Xabi Alonso era at Real Madrid already starting to take shape, the club has their eyes on the future.

The club has been diligently recruiting a mix of experienced veteran players as well as younger more inexperienced players as they build a formidable squad that will have all of Europe scared.

The club has brought in players like Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, and the newly acquired Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold all of whom are expected to be cornerstone pieces of the Real Madrid project going forward.

While the squad is nearly complete, there are still a few place the club hopes to reinforce in the future, signing another marquee central defender and a new left-back.

There are a number of solid options available but Real Madrid has long had their eyes on two of Arsenal's top defenders, and with both out of contract next summer, it could spell danger for the rest of Europe.

How Real Madrid's planned Arsenal raid next summer could spell trouble for Europe

It has been widely reported over the last few months that Real Madrid have their eyes on two of Arsenal's key players in defense, those being William Saliba and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

The two players are both out of contract next summer and will be available as free transfers, which plays perfectly into the hands of Real Madrid. As we have seen with other players on expiring contracts, when Real Madrid comes calling, it is hard to say no.

Real's interest in Saliba is well documented, the club has been interested in signing the Frenchman for the last year or so, so him being their main transfer target for next summer is no surprise.

Lewis-Skelly however is a bit of an interesting one, the 18-year-old burst onto the scene last season and after two impressive performances against Real Madrid in the Champions League, the club believes he could be their left-back of the future.

However, whether or not Los Blancos are able to land both players remains unknown. There is still a long way to go until the club can officially make contact with the players and their representatives, and when that time roles around they might have already inked new long-term deals with the Premier League side.
