Real Madrid have been able to let go of a number of key players in the past. To be honest, it seems like there has been one in every single one of the last few years.

For Real Madrid fans, it is heartbreak one after the other. I mean, this year alone, Luka Modric, Carlo Ancelotti and Lucas Vazquez exited the club after so many excellent years, it is difficult to see this happen every single year.

Real Madrid fans had to endure severe hardships after losing Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos, Marcelo, Casemiro and so many others in the last decade or so. One of them was Isco, as well, who left the club in 2022, and now has an objective in mind.

Real Madrid fans usually see it as the right time for many to leave, and it was the same for Isco, but for very different reasons.

Isco clearly still has the talent, it was never about that

Isco was not past it, he just seemed like he was. And three years later, Isco has now talked about how he maybe regrets a few things from his time at the club.

He said: "When you are not well mentally, it shows in your game. I was going through a bad sporting and personal streak. I didn't know how to recover. The only one responsible for my exit is me.”

Fair enough. It takes a lot of courage for a person as famous as Isco to admit something like this publicly, in front of press and the media.

Isco has shown a lot of maturity in the last couple of years, and it seems like that has also translated onto his game where, after a sudden blip when he left Real Madrid, he seems to have regained his best form.

Isco has been so good that he even got selected for the Spanish national team. I guess he just would've liked these years to coincide with his last ones at Real Madrid - maybe then, we would have seen a prolonged career for him wearing white.
