In the buildup to facing Liverpool at Anfield Stadium, Real Madrid star has taken a dig at the English media for their treatment of him in the summer.
The summer saw an exciting occasion for football, as EURO 2024 was held throughout several German cities. We now know the outcome of the competition, with Spain merging victorious.
However, England came second in EURO 2024. This was despite not playing at their best for some of the matches. Largely to thank for their place in the final was Jude Bellingham, who provided some clutch moments to the Three Lions.
Despite being one of England's best players at the tournament, Jude Bellingham was not treated fairly by the English media. So, he has reflected on the poor treatment.
Jude Bellingham takes dig at English media, while praising Real Madrid
Speaking to the media, Jude Bellingham said that he was made to feel like a scapegoat while representing England on international duty over the summer. He said that the treatment he received was not warranted by his performances.
In his own words, Jude Bellingham said: “I lost my smile a little bit after the Euros… I think I was mistreated in comparison to what I contributed. Perhaps I felt a little bit of a scapegoat."
Unfortunately, the start of the season was not kind to Jude Bellingham in a Real Madrid shirt. He had a slow start to the 2024/25 campaign, which likely looked worse due to how well he played last season.
Nevertheless, Bellingham is back in form now. Real Madrid fans hope that they've got their Jude back, after a brilliant display at the weekend.
Speaking on his time at Real Madrid, Jude Bellingham said: "But in general, I haven’t lost my smile at Real Madrid. Not at all”.
This is because Jude Bellingham is treated much nicer in Spain than he is in England. Sure, there are some publications which give him a hard time, but this is unfortunately part and parcel of being a Real Madrid player.
Jude Bellingham has hopefully found his home for life in the Spanish capital. He is a young player with his entire future ahead of him. Yet, this is often forgotten about due to his importance in the Real Madrid lineup.
Hopefully, Jude Bellingham only continues to prove the English media wrong. Of course, they are known for their poor treatment of their own players, so it would take a lot for them to swallow their pride and give Jude his flowers.
