In his own words (translated from Spanish to English), Mbappé said: "Fans are lucky just to come and enjoy a show without knowing what happens behind the scenes. Honestly, if I didn't have this passion, the world of football would have disgusted me a long time ago. I would never advise my child to step foot in football."
It's a complete shock to hear, and no Real Madrid fan would have expected it. You would never be able to tell by watching him on the pitch that Mbappé feels this way.
But it's somewhat refreshing to hear. Sure, Mbappé will receive backlash from critics, but it should never hurt to be brutally honest about the way you're feeling. Mbappé's situation is individual, and nobody can compare him to anybody else.
We are seeing a growing trend of raw honesty from players and managers, which can only be a good thing. Just like how Rocky put it, the world ain't all sunshine and rainbows.
