Real Madrid and Barcelona are inarguably the two best teams in Spain. Both the clubs have been rivals since time immemorial and fans have seen some heated moments when the two giants have met over the years.
In the last El Clásico, which Los Blancos won 2–1, there were some tensions between the teams after Lamine Yamal took a few shots at Real Madrid in an interview in the run-up to the derby.
This angered Madrid fans as well as their players, who let their feelings show after the match ended, with a number of Los Blancos players gesturing for Lamine to talk less, including Spain captain Dani Carvajal.
Anyway, just when things seemed to have cooled off a bit, the Spanish youngster is once again back in the news with another thinly veiled dig at Real Madrid, stirring the pot even further.
Fabrizio Romano has recently quoted a statement from Yamal on Twitter and wrote:
"If the rival fans boo me… it's because they know I'm an important player on the field”.
“If I were another player, they wouldn't boo me.""
Lamine Yamal has just stirred the pot yet again with another backhanded dig at Real Madrid
There’s little doubt that Yamal is one of the brightest talents in world football right now. However, this kind of arrogant behaviour is not something fans expect from the 18-year-old. It is one thing to show confidence, but another altogether to cross the line repeatedly with his statements.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid have already beaten Barcelona in the only match between the two sides this season and should focus on the campaign at hand.
Unfortunately, in their latest Champions League matchup, Los Blancos suffered a 1-0 loss to Liverpool. This marks the second time this season that Real Madrid have lost to top teams, as they also faced a heavy defeat against Atletico Madrid some time ago.
As a result, it seems that Xabi Alonso has not yet succeeded in fully implementing his style of play at Real Madrid and still needs more time, which is understandable to some extent. That said, the team has immense potential, and we've already seen some flashes of it this season.
So, at a time when Yamal is busy taking jabs at Real Madrid regularly, the club continues to focus on improving and winning more trophies. After all, the best answers in football are given on the field, not in front of a microphone.
