Real Madrid have once again shown themselves that if they look within their own organisation once in a while, they will unearth some of the best talents in the world.
Real Madrid were without a presence in the box to start the Club World Cup campaign. Enter Gonzalo Garcia. He has taken up a spot in the lineup, has added four goals and an assist to his name, and suddenly, everyone loves him.
Real Madrid needed him after losing Endrick and Kylian Mbappe, but now, he has become untouchable of sorts, even after Mbappe's return.
He should still start as Real Madrid's striker in the remainder of the Club World Cup, and then, it should become clear to everyone that the player is here to stay. Even to Spain National Team coach Luis De La Fuente.
De La Fuente will leave many Real Madrid fans annoyed with his latest quotes
De La Fuente has done a brilliant job with Spain, and now faces a conundrum about Garcia's spot in the squad. However, his latest quotes will make Real Madrid fans really annoyed.
When asked about Garcia, he said: "What we have to do is give each player their moment. There's still plenty of time until the next call-up.
"He's building up to the belief that he could be a player with a future, but the most important thing is not to rush into things or get carried away by short, immediate performances. He has not even played a single second in La Liga yet.
"You have to earn the chance and the right to occupy a place in a fantastic national team, where there are some wonderful, very high-level players with a fantastic career.
"You have to earn it, but of course I encourage him. I celebrate his performance, because he's another player who joins this cause. I hope there are many Gonzalos, many Huijsens, many Cubarsís."
De La Fuente, who has openly given many nods to La Masia graduates in the past year or so, wants to take the Carlo Ancelotti approach when it comes to Garcia. The Spanish striker has been great, but he wants to see this happen for a bit longer than it has currently.
I would say it is fair if I did not know about the opportunities so many Barcelona youngsters ahve got in the last couple of years.
They have performed really well, to be fair to them, but so has Garcia. This striker might really become the striker Spain have been looking for all this time, but De La Fuente has once again hinted that he may have a double standard. At least in my opinion, he has.
