Manchester United have expressed interest in signing Eduardo Camavinga this summer transfer window, according to a report from The Athletic.
Manchester United are looking for a player who can play as a midfielder as well as on the left, at left-back, and Camavinga suits that profile almost perfectly.
People may not remember it, or maybe they will, but Camavinga used to be an unreal left-back for Real Madrid whenever he was deployed there. It usually came due to injuries to Ferland Mendy or Fran Garcia.
Camavinga used to use his technical ability, physical dominance, and his improving attributes really well on the left side, which gave Real Madrid an advantage in midfield as well when he used to slot in.
Obviously, there were some bad games because he isn't a natural left-back, but his defensive abilities and the amount of ground he can cover were really impressive on that left side.
Real Madrid have signing players like Alvaro Carreras and now Marc Cucurella, so we may never see Camavinga play as a left-back for Real Madrid ever again.

However, this is essentially why Manchester United are interested in signing him.
The left-back situation has been a bit bland for the last few years, ever since Luke Shaw started going through a lot of injuries.
Now, Real Madrid would, if it was dependent on them, probably sell Camavinga almost instantly. According to some reports, Mourinho does not really look at him as a big part of his plans.
He has fallen down the pecking order at the club as well, and there are other players much better suited for Real Madrid at the moment than Camavinga is, despite impressing in the friendly against Deportivo.
But he was also one of the reasons Real Madrid couldn't really sign Rodri. It didn't work out the same way a Camavinga signing wouldn't work out for Manchester United.
It is because the Frenchman himself absolutely does not want to leave. He is, according to older reports, convinced that he can find his level again and be an important player under Mourinho, which is why he wants to stay and fight for his place at the club.
It is a baffling move because not only does it deprive Real Madrid of signing a brilliant midfielder in place of him to improve certain problems that Real Madrid have faced over the last few months, over the last few seasons, but also he doesn't really get to play either.
If he joined Manchester United, he would be guaranteed much, much more playing time than he would be at Real Madrid. And maybe a move to another club would work out for him better than he thinks.
However, that will only happen if Camavinga himself realizes it, and at the moment, it just does not seem like he is anywhere close to doing that.
It remains to be seen what happens between now and the end of the transfer window, but as it stands, Camavinga's future is still in Spain.
