Approaching the summer transfer window, there will be plenty of interest surrounding some of Real Madrid's star players. After all, the Spanish capital is home to the biggest and best club in the world, so interest in their players will naturally follow, with the recent treble-win not helping Carlo Ancelotti to keep the interest away.

Thankfully for Real Madrid, though, being the biggest club in the world comes with better pull factor for their players. Nine times out of ten, Real Madrid players will not be swayed by external noise, since the club they represent cannot be topped. However, the same cannot be said for EVERY player...

Arsenal may capitalise on Real Madrid transfer for unsettled star player

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo (h/t Sport Witness), Andriy Lunin does not favour staying at Real Madrid for the long-term. It is believed that not starting in the Champions League final, despite playing a key role in getting Madrid to the final, did not please Andriy Lunin's camp. Therefore, he sees his future best-placed elsewhere.

Andriy Lunin is unfortunately one of those players who Real Madrid cannot please. He is not quite at the level to overtake Thibaut Courtois in the standings but he is far too good to play as the backup goalkeeper.

While Ancelotti relied heavily on squad rotation in 2023/24, the goalkeeper spot is one which is more difficult to justify rotating. Therefore, Andriy Lunin could certainly seek game-time elsewhere.

There are question marks surrounding whether Arsenal are the best fit. After all, they already have an exceptional Spanish goalkeeper, David Raya. The loaned signing was one of the best goalkeepers in the world last season, winning the Premier League Golden Glove award for the most clean sheets. He seems to have solidified Arsenal's choice between the sticks, even eliminating Aaron Ramsdale.

That said, Mikel Arteta is known to have the "gift of the gab" as they say in London. He is excellent at communication, and he has the ability to sell his dream and his vision to anybody. As per the aforementioned report, Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Lunin's situation, and they will take up the opportunity to sign him should he be "within reach".

With Arteta showing no loyalties to goalkeepers in the past, it would not be too much of a surprise if Andriy Lunin was signed as a replacement to David Raya. Either way, one of them will be given a route to the starting lineup, with former first team fan favourite Aaron Ramsdale on his way out imminently. Lunin should evaluate his chances at Arsenal, long story short.
