Among the list of Arsenal transfer targets rests a key Real Madrid player, Andriy Lunin. Or at least it was believed throughout last season that the Ukraine international was a key Real Madrid player, until the choice was made to start Thibaut Courtois in the UEFA Champions League final.

It was an understandable choice from Carlo Ancelotti, since Courtois has more experience than Lunin and is the better goalkeeper anyway. However, as understandable as the decision was, it had to come with consequences and one of those includes Lunin becoming demoralised and unsettled.

Therefore, Lunin has been looking at moves away from the Spanish capital this summer. After all, he's at the stage of his career where he should be getting regular minutes for a top team. This is unfortunately a promise which Real Madrid cannot make, so he is in his own right to pursue a move elsewhere.

Or at least this is the speculation. Lunin has actually remained professional and not kicked up a public fuss about being resorted to the bench. Instead, it's taken him this long to comment on his Real Madrid future.

As per Marca (h/t Football London), Lunin was questioned about staying at Real Madrid and he said: "Staying at Real Madrid? We will see, we will see,"

Of course, Lunin has not much provided much in the way of an update. However, Real Madrid fans should read between the lines here. After all, if he was happy at Real Madrid, he would say that. Instead, he added fuel to the fire by admitting that him leaving Real Madrid was a possibility.

Understandably, Real Madrid are preparing for his departure. Indeed, the obvious choice to replace Lunin is a player who already understands Real Madrid and that is by signing Kepa Arrizabalaga permanently. However, if this falls through, Real Madrid are also pursuing Joan Garcia of Espanyol.

The one thing to note is that Andriy Lunin is not guaranteed a starting spot at Arsenal either. As it stands, David Raya is the choice between the sticks in North London. Therefore, Lunin must be prepared to play a rotational role there, too.

Where do you think Andriy Lunin will play next season?
