A journalist has claimed that Real Madrid are determined to sign Rodri from Man City in the summer of 2025. In fact, Florentino Perez will instruct Real Madrid to "do everything" to sign him.

Real Madrid are undergoing a bizarre transtion period in their midfield. Toni Kroos understandably hung up his boots at the end of last season, meaning Real Madrid have humongous boots to fill.

However, as things stand, Real Madrid have not signed a new midfielder for the 2024/25 season. Factoring in Eduardo Camavinga's injury and the potential Dani Ceballos sale, it could be harmful.

But do Real Madrid have something to look forward to in 2025? Here's what has been said regarding the potential Rodri transfer in 2025...

According to Duncan Castles on The Transfers Podcast, Florentino Perez would love for Real Madrid to sign Rodri from Real Madrid. What's more, the player is keen to potentiall join Real Madrid.

In his own words, Castles said: “Florentino Perez has instructed Real Madrid’s recruitment staff to do everything possible to bring Rodri to the club, probably in the next summer’s transfer window, it will be a target.”

Castles continued: “As I am told about this, I think Rodri is interested in this. There have also been approaches from Barcelona."

So, it could be a typical tale of Real Madrid competing with FC Barcelona over one of the finest Spanish players currently.

We will wait and see what Barcelona's financial situation is like in a years time but as things stand currently, they cannot compete with most teams, let alone Real Madrid.

Needless to say, Rodri will be a difficult player to sign. He is one of the best players in the world and certainly a contender for the Ballon d'Or this year.

Rodri also has three years remaining on his contract and according to Castles, Man City are willing to improve this and make him one of the best paid players.

So, Real Madrid are being ambitious but they have every right to be, given their status as the best and biggest club in the world. After all, Rodri is a Spanish player, so finishing his career in the capital will be great for him.

There is also a growing sense that when Florentino Perez wants something, he oftentimes gets it.
