Real Madrid are in a very fortunate position currently. After a historic treble-winning season last time out, the Spanish capital are only set for more greatness in 2024/25. After all, they have already announced the arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick, so it's scary to contemplate what they can achieve next season.

Real Madrid currently have the bragging rights in Spain, as they have asserted their dominance over league rivals FC Barcelona. In many ways, Real Madrid are in a healthy position and they're only on the rise but it is difficult to say the same for Barcelona, who are in a horrid financial position.

Therefore, Barcelona are forced into taking a step back with some of their optimistic transfer targets. This can certainly be said for Florian Wirtz, who Barcelona would ideally like to sign. However, according to Sport, Barcelona recognise that signing Florian Wirtz, who is valued by Bayer Leverkusen at €150m, is an unrealistic target for them.

Furthermore, this will only play into Real Madrid's favour. As relayed by 90min, this revelation has increased the confidence for Real Madrid, who now see themselves as in the pole position to sign Florian Wirtz.

However, Real Madrid fans should not expect Real Madrid to sign Florian Wirtz this summer. While it would cap off an already incredible summer transfer window, the deal is more likely to happen in the summer of 2025. In short, Wirtz has been added to the long-term transfer shortlist, alongside the likes of Leny Yoro and Alphonso Davies.

Florian Wirtz won the 2023/24 Bundesliga season with Bayer Leverkusen, who defied all the odds by going the entire season unbeaten. Benefitting from the immense mentorship of Real Madrid legend Xabi Alonso, it is believed that he is primed for a move to the best club in the world.
