Real Madrid have not had the most fortunate start to the 2024/25 campaign. Before the season commenced, they were on the receiving end of an Eduardo Camavinga injury then after it had began, Jude Bellingham was added to the list.

Of course, David Alaba has been injured since last season, so Carlo Ancelotti has been hanging on by a thread when it comes to his defence. But there's no denying that in the midfield is where the Italian boss has felt the most impact on the injury treatment table.

Considering Real Madrid signed no midfielders in the summer transfer window, this could bite Carlo Ancelotti in the backside. Indeed, another Real Madrid midfielder is set to be injured for over one month.

According to Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter), Dani Ceballos is ruled out of action for Real Madrid through an ankle injury. His rehabilitation is expected to last around 6-8 weeks, so he could even be out for two months.

Carlo Ancelotti recently praised Dani Ceballos, hailing the Spanish midfielder as an "important player" for Real Madrid. Ancelotti was personally happy that Ceballos stayed throughout the summer transfer window, even despite the links away from Real Madrid.

Ceballos has seen a reduction in his minutes over the past few years. It is a shame to see, considering how important he once was for Real Madrid. However, he still serves an important squad role.

Hopefully as the season progresses, Real Madrid are not impacted too heavily by Dani Ceballos' injury. After all, their midfield was depleted enough, even with Ceballos available.

This season, Real Madrid will be involved in plenty of action, more than previous seasons. The new Champions League format will see Real Madrid compete in two more games, due to the group stage being extended from six matches to eight matches.

So, Ancelotti will require his troops to be fit and available for action. Let's hope that Ceballos recovers well and ideally, ahead of his estimated timeline. Still, his rehabilitation should not be rushed.
