Real Madrid have made no secret of their desire to sign Alphonso Davies. Furthermore, the player has made no secret of his desire to sign for Real Madrid. However, there is a third layer to the deal which is proving complicated. Essentially, Bayern Munich are prepared to keep Alphonso Davies next season, despite his contract expiring in 2025. So, understandably, Carlo Ancelotti and Florentino Perez are growing frustrated. Ideally, they would like to know if they stand a chance in this summer transfer window or if they should focus their immediate attention elsewhere. The time for games is up, Real Madrid have strict transfer goals this summer, so they cannot focus too much time on a seeming dead-end transfer.

According to a report from Diario AS, Real Madrid will wait until Alphonso Davies returns from Copa America before presenting their final ultimatum. They will then decide whether to try to sign him this summer or wait until he becomes a free agent next summer.
Alphonso Davies' Canada have completely shocked the world at this year's Copa America. They are set to face Argentina in the semifinal, after beating Venezuela on penalties. Led by Jesse Marsch, they are a nation filled with passion and pride, so the supporters will get behind Davies to potentially push on to the final.
From Real Madrid's perspective, they will be keeping an eye on the Copa America standoff for a different reason. They will be keeping an eye on how Alphonso Davies leads from his heart and there is also the subtle undertone of wanting Lionel Messi to be eliminated from the competition.
Alphonso Davies would be an excellent coup for Real Madrid but they should not feel any immediate need to sign him. While he would be a good signing, there are Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia to consider, both players showing great potential to start for Real Madrid.
