Real Madrid have won all their matches this season under new manager Xabi Alonso. They are currently sitting at the top of the La Liga table with 12 points and have also secured a victory in their Champions League opener against Marseille.

Although it has been a great start to the campaign for Real Madrid, few would contradict the fact that the team isn’t at their best and is still transitioning to the new system.

Anyway, Alonso has made some bold decisions lately, including benching Vinícius Júnior in two of the last three matches. Rodrygo has started in place of his Brazilian teammate on those occasions. This has raised some doubts about Vinícius's long-term future at the Santiago Bernabeu, as he doesn’t seem too happy with the situation.

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappé has emerged as the new leader of the team, and given his incredible performances, there’s little doubt he fully deserves that role. However, some are left wondering if the Frenchman would be even more explosive playing in the left-wing position.

On that note, if the manager ever decides to go down that path at some point in time moving forward, there’s one player Real Madrid should definitely go after and would be foolish to let him stay at his current club.

As many would have already guessed, we are talking about Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. The Norwegian international has been linked with a move to Real Madrid on multiple occasions over the past few seasons, but nothing concrete has come of it.

The 25-year-old joined the Citizens in 2022 for a fee of €60 million. Since then, Haaland has scored 130 goals and provided 21 assists, totalling 151 goal involvements in as many appearances. He is hands down the best natural number 9 in the world currently.

If Vinícius were to leave in the future, Real Madrid could use the funds to target Haaland. This would effectively allow Mbappé to then shift to his preferred left-wing position, with the Norwegian playing in the centre-forward role. This setup could further enhance Los Blancos' attacking prowess if it indeed comes true in the future.

Of course, it won’t be an easy transfer to pull off, as Manchester City wouldn’t want to lose their star striker. But in modern football, you never know what might happen next, and Haaland moving to Real Madrid is definitely a possibility.

Nevertheless, one thing is certain: the Norwegian striker would be a perfect signing for the Los Blancos. So the club must do everything possible to bring him in if an opportunity presents itself.
