Gonzalo Garcia would be sold by Real Madrid in the next few days, according to journalist Jose Felix Diaz.
Real Madrid have too many players in the squad at the moment, and have been looking to find players to sell to get rid of the clutter.
There are many players that they do not need at the moment, and selling them would open doors to being able to afford players like Yan Diomande and Rodri as well as for them to join the club when it is time.
There is another player who is being mentioned as a potential sale as well, which is also interesting to note.
Raul Asencio also has options to leave the club, but there is a big difference between the two departures.
Real Madrid could let go of a player they must absolutely keep next season
According to reports, Jose Mourinho is convinced by one of them, and wants him to stay at Real Madrid. Mourinho whole-heartedly believes that Garcia is definitely needed at Real Madrid. With Raul Asencio, he is absolutely not convinced, and reportedly wants a new defender in his place.
Now, it is true that Real Madrid need to upgrade on their central defenders, but it is also true that it cannot be at Garcia's expense. There have been reports linking the striker to Fulham, and there is obviously a big chance that he leaves the club.
However, it is worth mentioning that the player has a profile that Real Madrid were lacking after losing Joselu in 2024. They have needed a box presence like Garcia, and even though he was severely under-utilised last season, he still managed to be the fourth-highest goal-getter at the club with eight goals.
This was on 1471 minutes on a very sporadic, inconsistent role, which makes it even better. Gonzalo's technical ability is still good, and the player's off-ball runs are a joy to watch, and a sight that is severely lacking at the club at many points over the season.
Garcia's heading ability is also a great option that other attackers don't necessarily have, which leaves him as a fantastic option in tight games.
We all saw him light the Club World Cup on fire last year. We know what Garcia is capable of, and that is exactly why Real Madrid cannot make this mistake. Even Mourinho does not want him to go - at least allegedly. If Real Madrid have to raise funds or create space in the squad for new players, they should try to sell players that would actually be good for very little.
Selling a gem like Garcia, who is a die-hard Madridista, makes no sense.
