Real Madrid have now entered the transfer race to sign Ousmane Diomande, who is rated at €60 million and is currently targeted by Chelsea.
This season, Real Madrid have been hit with a number of injuries. Unfortunately, it has hindered Carlo Ancelotti in his bid to retain the Champions League and La Liga trophies.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid are never down and out. They could face a handful of setbacks but they would still be favoured over any other team. This is simply the pedigree they hold, both in Spain and in Europe.
Naturally, though, the attention is on Real Madrid during the January transfer window. While they are reserved and prudent in their transfer approach, Los Blancos are always favoured to make signings.
At this stage of the transfer window, Real Madrid have not made any deals. This is despite their obvious need to bring in new faces at the back.
Real Madrid enter the race to sign €60 million Chelsea transfer target
According to a report from Fichajes, Real Madrid have shown an interest in signing Ousmane Diomande. The Sporting CP defender is believed to fit the bill in the Spanish capital, amid growing interest from Los Blancos to strengthen their backline for their title defence.
The report claims that Sporting would require €60 million, albeit being reluctant to sell one of their prized assets. If taken into account the interest from the likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Chelsea, then Sporting could even push for €80 million.
This is a fee which Real Madrid would not give up without serious consideration. After all, Real Madrid have taken a more relaxed approach to transfers in recent seasons. Jude Bellingham was the last player who Real spent a lot on, in terms of transfer fee.
Alternatively in this position, Real Madrid also consider William Saliba of Arsenal as a contender. Therefore, it is safe to say that Real are targeting only the best of the best in this position.
It makes sense, considering the likes of David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger aren't getting any younger. Furthermore, the long-term injury to Eder Miltao has not helped matters at all.
