After the announcement that Xabi Alonso will be replacing Carlo Ancelotti next season, major changes are expected within the Real Madrid squad before the start of the 2025/26 season.

Players like Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez, and Jesus Vallejo are all set to leave the club on expiring contracts, as a number of new players are making their way to the club to be part of Alonso's new revolution.

While these three departures have already been confirmed by the club, there are other players who could also see their time at the club come to an end.

One of these players is second-choice keeper Andriy Lunin. Somewhat of an unsung hero for Los Blancos, Lunin has seen his gametime slashed since the return of Thibaut Courtois from injury.

Real Madrid unsung hero wishes to stay amid interest from top Turkish club

As reported by MARCA, Lunin's place in the team heading into next season remains far from guaranteed under the new Xabi Alonso regime, however, the player himself knows where he stands in his mind.

The report suggests that the 26-year-old wishes to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu despite being the backup to Thibaut Courtois. The Ukrainian international sees limited game time each season but is nonetheless happy at the club.

However, his agent is still exploring options for his client as he searches for a starting role and he may have found a suitor. The report suggests that Turkish giants Galatasaray are showing strong interest in signing Lunin and could look to make a bid in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to transfermarkt, Lunin has a value of around €20 million, which would be a nice little amount of money for the club to bring in this summer. However, no concrete moves have been made by Galatasaray and Real Madrid themselves have not been looking for a new backup keeper in the transfer market, so only time will tell if this move materializes.
