Real Madrid are keen to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool. However, they are likely to wait until the summer transfer window.
Real Madrid have not signed any player in the January transfer window. This is despite their obvious squad needs, most notably in the defence.
Los Blancos are going through an injury crisis, with their back-line being the most hit position. Yet, Florentino Perez and co have not yet been active in the January window, at least not with any confirmed deals.
Nevertheless, Trent Alexander-Arnold remains a Real Madrid transfer target. The English full-back is under contract at Liverpool until the end of the season. Therefore, he will either be available for a cut-price in January or for free in the summer.
Or so Real Madrid thought.
Real Madrid make a key decision involving Trent Alexander-Arnold transfer
Turns out, Trent will he harder to acquire in the January transfer window than initially thought. Despite Real Madrid testing the waters, they have had no luck this month. Therefore, Real Madrid are likelier to make a move in the summer transfer window instead, claims Relevo.
Real Madrid do not envision making Liverpool budge on their transfer stance this month. So, Real should have more luck welcoming Trent in the summer. At least this way, Real would save some money on a transfer fee.
This decision will not go down well with Real Madrid fans. This is because Madridistas hold the club to high standards and right now, the right-back position is not up to scratch.
Through no fault of his own, Dani Carvajal will miss the remainder of the season. Therefore, Real would ideally need to sign a replacement in the January transfer window, if they wish to meet their objectives this season.
However, that player will not be Trent Alexander-Arnold. At least not this month, anyway.
