Real Madrid name preference between Liverpool and Tottenham transfers
By Kian Long
Real Madrid is linked to two Premier League full-backs, from Liverpool and Tottenham. Now, their transfer preference has been named.
Given the unfortunate injury blow to Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid's weak depth in the right-back position has been revealed. Lucas Vazquez is now the only recognised right-back, so Real Madrid could face severe difficulty if he becomes injured too.
That said, it has revealed a great transfer opportunity to Carlo Ancelotti. Given that Real Madrid has not signed a right-back in some time, the upcoming transfer windows should be the time to do so.
However, who will Real Madrid sign? Well, out of the two options from Tottenham and Liverpool, Real Madrid's preference has now been revealed to us all.
Real Madrid name preference between Liverpool and Tottenham transfers
According to a report from AS, Real Madrid is interested in signing Pedro Porro of Tottenham. However, the Spaniard is a backup option for Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool, who is at the top of Real Madrid's transfer pecking order.
In fact, the Spanish outlet has gone as far as to say Real Madrid's favouring of Trent Alexander-Arnold is "indisputable." To put it loosely, they will fight hard to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold, then.
It is obvious why Alexander-Arnold is the preferred option for Real Madrid. He is one year older than Porro but has greater experience at the top level, having come through Liverpool's academy as a youngster.
The Liverpool academy graduate is one of the best full-backs in the world. He is also out of contract at the end of this season, which works in Real Madrid's favour as Liverpool may feel the need to sell him.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is known for his creativity and wide range of passing. While he is a full-back by trade, his excellent creative abilities enable him to play in the midfield. Therefore, he has the versatility and dynamism which Pedro Porro does not.
Both Premier League full-backs are attacking options. This is not a surprise, since Real Madrid is renowned for their incredible attacking outlets from wide positions.
One push factor away from signing Pedro Porro is Tottenham's negotiation strategy. Daniel Levy is known to drive a hard bargain and he is rather stubborn in player negotiations. Therefore, Real Madrid may face an easier time negotiating with Liverpool rather than Tottenham.
Either way, no matter which player is signed, no Real Madrid fan can turn up their nose at signing either player.
