Real Madrid are putting their plan together to sign William Saliba from Arsenal but they are aware of the transfer demand which exceeds €120m.
Real Madrid are currently going through an injury crisis. While the injury crisis might only be temporary, with some injuries shorter than others, this season has opened Carlo Ancelotti up to the lack of squad depth.
This is particularly the case in the defence, a position which has struck Real Madrid the most at the start of this campaign. While they only have a handful of defenders injured, Carlo Ancelotti has been forced to play a weaker side because of it.
Therefore, there is expected to be an emphasis on signing defenders in the upcoming transfer windows.
Real Madrid plan to sign Arsenal superstar for over €120m
According to a new report by Spanish outlet Sport, Real Madrid have received new confidence in signing William Saliba. They have been in contact with his representatives and been given the green light to push for a move.
However, from Real Madrid's perspective, it would require William Saliba to hand in a transfer request. After all, they cannot simply barge in and demand the player, as much as this would be ideal.
William Saliba is under contract at the Emirates Stadium until the summer of 2027. Therefore, Arsenal are in no position where they need to sell him. Furthermore, Arsenal are reported to be in a good financial position, not needing to sell any players to align with the financial rules.
However, if William Saliba does hand in a transfer request, then Arsenal would look silly if they denied it. The report does not mention William Saliba's future interest, so we shan't mention where he stands through lack of outstanding evidence.
The report state, through, that Real Madrid are aware of the record-breaking price they must pay if they want to sign William Saliba. It would be a deal exceeding £100m (€120m), such is the nature of how highly Arsenal value Saliba.
Indeed, Arsenal have every right to demand such a fee. After all, it is within their best interest to keep ahold of Saliba, who is one of the best defenders in the world.
He is incredibly important to the Gunners. This was shown two seasons ago, when William Saliba's mid-season injury arguably cost the Gunners the title. Therefore, he is seemingly priceless in North London.
