Jose Mourinho will soon be named the new Real Madrid manager, and the Portuguese icon has a lot of work cut out for him with the club at back to back seasons with a trophy and in shambles behind the scenes. Using only players currently in the squad, here is an early look at the lineup Mou could use to kick off the new era.
GK Thibaut Courtois
Out of all the players at Real Madrid, Thibaut Courtois is the best, the most reliable, and the most influential in the locker room. He's also the only guaranteed starter in this XI.
LB Fran Garcia
Alvaro Carreras may be more talented, but we all know Jose Mourinho likes the scrappy guys who will fight for the team. That is Fran Garcia in a nutshell, and after his antics this season under Alvaro Arbeloa, Carreras will have to prove himself to Mou first.
CB Dean Huijsen
CB Eder Militao
The center backs are a tough group to figure out, and Real Madrid need to sign two new players at the position and could very well have two different starters next season. Dean Huijsen isn't ready to play every game yet, while Eder Militao is the best center back when healthy; it's just that he's almost never healthy.
RB Trent Alexander-Arnold
Perhaps no player at Real Madrid has improved more during the current season than Trent Alexander-Arnold. He creates chances out of nothing, and even Mourinho will appreciate his quality.
DM Aurelien Tchouameni
Thiago Pitarch is a real sleeper to take a starting job if Aurelien Tchouameni continues to sleep walk through big games. Tchou is one of the big names first on the chopping block when Mourinho arrives.
CM Jude Bellingham
CM Fede Valverde
Fede Valverde and Jude Bellingham are lions of the midfield and must starts. Jose Mourinho is going to fall in love with their heart and athleticism, and a lot of the things they are criticized for are the things Mourinho loves. Because these guys are as addicted to winning as he is.
AM Arda Guler
Arda Guler isn't just a great playmaker. The young Turkish international will fight for the badge to the death, and Mourinho is going to make him the focal point of the attack as his Mesut Ozil and point guard.
FW Vinicius Junior
Vinicius Junior is an emotional guy who wears his heart on his sleeve, and he wins. Mourinho is the same way. Vini Jr. is going to be one of the pillars of Mou's new project.
FW Kylian Mbappe
After the way Kylian Mbappe treated Mourinho's old disciple Alvaro Arbeloa, his spot in the XI is tenuous and is entirely built on his name and the fact that Florentino Perez wants him to succeed. Mourinho will do whatever he can to succeed with Mbappe in his XI, but the minute he detects even a hint of insubordination, this job will go to Endrick.
