Even though Real Madrid have not been the best team in the world this season, their superstar signing Kylian Mbappe has been a brilliant success after a rough few months.

Real Madrid were missing him in the first few months, as he kept giving in bad performances one after the other. Now, it is the opposite, Mbappe has been performing immensely in his last few weeks and months, but his team has not.

Mbappe has scored 41 goals so far, which is huge for someone who was struggling massively for the first five months of the 2024-25 season.

In fact, he is close to achieving some individual glory. All he needs is one goal and for Mohamed Salah to not score a hat-trick, and Mbappe will win the European Golden Shoe.

Currently, Viktor Gyokores is the leader with 58.5 points. Mbappe is on 58, and he will go up by one by scoring a goal against Real Sociedad in the last match of the La Liga campaign.

Salah is in third with 56 points, with 28 goals this season. Gyokores has 36 league goals, but his co-efficient means he only gets 1.5x points, compared to Salah and Mbappe's 2.0x coefficient.

Mbappe has scored seven league goals in his last four appearances for the club, and the form he is in makes him the favorite to take the trophy home. Gyokores has no games left, and Salah is unlikely - although still not impossible - to score a hat-trick against Crystal Palace.

If Mbappe were to win it, it would at least give the Frenchman something to cheer about in his first season. Team trophies are always more important, but it would be good for morale that he goes into his sophomore season with Real Madrid with a Golden Shoe and Pichichi under his belt already.
