Real Madrid's transfer pursuit of Trent Alexander-Arnold is now on the verge of completion. In fact, he is believed to already be "90%" signed.

Real Madrid are the largest club in the world and they are the most attractive destination for players all over the globe. In fact, they have even become an attractive destination for British players in the past, despite how the British players would previously remain stubborn about leaving the island.

In recent history, they signed Jude Bellingham and before him came the Welshman Gareth Bale. There are a few other examples before these two in recent history but now Los Blancos are on the verge of signing another British player.

According to reports from AS, the deal which will see Trent Alexander-Arnold join Real Madrid is practically done. He already "has one foot in Real Madrid", after continuously turning down renewed contract offers from Liverpool.

AS claims that everything is clear between the two parties already. The only thing which is remaining to complete the deal is for the signature to be put on paper. On this, the pathway will begin on January 1st, so Wednesday of this week.

If this report is anything to go by, then Real Madrid fans can begin to get excited. From Wednesday, Trent Alexander-Arnold is legally allowed to pen his deal which will see him become a Real Madrid player for free.

The hope for Liverpool was to grant their star player autonomy in his decision making. They were confident in their own ability to convince Trent to stay on board at Anfield but unfortunately for them, they have been beaten psychologically by Real Madrid.

Despite the transfer seemingly being "90% complete", Real Madrid do have three backup options. Their preferred choice (only if Trent is not signed, that is) is Pedro Porro. Then, they are considering Jeremie Frimpong and Juanlu Sanchez.

That said, Real Madrid hope to not announce these names. They would prefer to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold, which has always been the case, and the operation is looking very good.

It is clear to see why Trent has always been the preferred option for Real Madrid. Coming through the Liverpool academy, he has turned into one of the best full-backs in the world. There aren't many better passers than Trent and he also has the ability to play in the midfield.
