Real Madrid return to action for the first time in three weeks as they face Villarreal at the Bernabeu on Saturday after a long international break.

Los Blancos would hope to pick themselves up after a really bad performance against Atletico Madrid forced them six points behind Barcelona.

Now, Real Madrid will look to get back to winning days, which would be a difficult challenge against a tough Villarreal side, and especially without some of the players they are missing for this clash.

Here is the injury report for Real Madrid before they face the Yellow Submarine to start off an incredibly busy month of October.

Real Madrid vs Villarreal: early injury news as 4 ruled out and 3 doubts

Raul Asencio: Out

Real Madrid are going to be missing Raul Asencio for a while now as the player just went through a surgery on his right leg, which will keep him out until December. At a point of time when Real Madrid were already struggling with the availability of their centre-backs, this is not the best news. Asencio has yet to play a single minute under Jose Mourinho so far, and it will be a while before that changes - not that he is in the manager's plans, anyway.

Kylian Mbappe: Doubt

Mbappe suffered a knee hyperextension injury that could have been a lot worse during the first game of the international break. As a result, he went back to Madrid for further tests, and it turned out to be a minor problem that would have been fixed by the time Real Madrid returned to action. Be that as it may, Mourinho still might not want to risk playing him against Villarreal.

Rodrygo: Out

Rodrygo is edging closer to a return to football after a very long time out due to an ACL injury. For now, though, he remains out for the foreseeable future.

Ibrahima Konate: Doubt

Konate got injured before France's first game of the international break, which is why he promptly returned to Real Madrid for recovery and further tests. Like Mbappe, he could be available for the match against Villarreal, but Mourinho might not want to take any risks - although his chances of playing are higher due to Real Madrid's slim depth in defense.

Fede Valverde: Doubt

Valverde suffered an ankle sprain during the loss to Atletico Madrid, and was ruled out of the entire international break. Reports say he will be back for Villarreal, but it is not confirmed whether he would play any minutes.

Eder Militao: Out

Militao is still dealing with the issue that's kept him out for months, and he will continue his recovery process.

Ferland Mendy: Out

Mendy is closing towards a return, but not quite there yet. He will miss the game against Villarreal.
