Real Madrid presented their first contract offer to Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, the Englishman rejected Los Blancos' first proposal.

For what feels like an aeon now, Real Madrid have been linked to the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold. In the last summer transfer window, it was the case and it remains the case in the January transfer window.

However, the consensus between all parties is that Trent will arrive in the summer. He is involved in a Premier League and Champions League pursuit with Liverpool, so he won't leave halfway through the season.

If Trent Alexander-Arnold arrives in the summer, Real Madrid would not need to pay any money for a transfer fee. In the summer, he is out of contract so he can discuss his future with other clubs now.

As it stands, it does not seem like any club would even challenge Real Madrid. In truth, it would be a waste of time if they were to, considering Trent is destined for the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

However, Real Madrid have suffered their first setback. According to Sky Sports, there remains a gap between Real Madrid and Trent Alexander-Arnold for their valuations. In other words, Trent has rejected Real Madrid's first proposal.

Nevertheless, the report does begin with some good news for Madridistas. The French report claims that Trent Alexander-Arnold has already chosen Real Madrid as his next club. Indeed, his mind and heart are both set on wearing the Royal White jersey.

Look, this is part of the process. I know it might seem like the end of the world considering the standards Real Madrid hold themselves to but players have their own needs which must be met. After all, it is an absolute rarity for contract offers to be accepted at the first time of asking.

Footballers operate in the same way anyone else would in their career. They could be missing out by accepting the first salary proposal which comes their way. Besides, we use terms like "they" and "footballers" loosely since we all know that agents have a growing involvement in these negotiations.

Rest assured, Real Madrid will continue to work on convincing Trent Alexander-Arnold. They know he's the man for the right-back slot and they won't give up on signing him. Both parties want this deal to happen really, it's just a matter of when, not if.
