If there's one thing that all Real Madrid fans can agree on about this season it's that the team is in desperate need of reinforcements this summer if they hope to bounce back from a disappointing season.
There are a number of areas that need improving from manager to many necessary signings to strengthen a squad with clear holes in it.
Real Madrid are expected to be major players in the upcoming summer transfer window and make a statement with their ambitious plans, let's take a look at what the perfect summer transfer window looks like for Los Blancos.
Xabi Alonso
First, we'll start with the manager. With Carlo Ancelotti seemingly on his way out of Real Madrid this summer, the club will need to bring in a new manager to replace the Italian legend and there is one clear number one choice, Xabi Alonso.
Alonso has been linked with Real Madrid for years now, the Spaniard has worked wonders with his Bayer Leverkusen guiding them to their first ever Bundesliga title last year with an incredible invincible season.
Add on top of that a DFB Pokal victory and a Europa League runner-up and it is clear why he is Real's number one candidate to replace the departing Ancelotti. It seems all but confirmed that Alonso will be arriving at Real Madrid this summer making that one piece of the puzzle to secure the clubs future.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Real Madrid's interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold has been the worst kept secret of the season. The Englishman confirmed this week that he will be departing Liverpool in the summer and there is only one destination on the horizon, Real Madrid. The Liverpool player is close friends with Real Madrid player and fellow Englishman Jude Bellingham which could play a major part in Real Madrid landing the top free agent in the summer.
Alexander-Arnold would be the perfect long term replacement for Dani Carvajal and with his signing rumored to be 99% done, Real Madrid fans already have something to be excited for heading in to next season.
William Saliba
You don't have to be a tactical expert to see that the defense has been the biggest issue for Real Madrid this season.
A combination of injuries and drops in form have caused the club to assess their options in the summer transfer window and they look to make a statement, signing a number of big name defenders.
In addition to Trent Alexander-Arnold the club are eyeing a move for fellow Premier League defender, Arsenal's William Saliba.
With Antonio Rudiger and Raul Asencio the only central defenders in the squad who can stay healthy, adding Saliba to the backline would be a major statement from Real Madrid.
The Frenchman has been one of the best and most consistent defenders in the Premier League for the past few season and that has caused him to pop up on Real's radar.
Any move for Saliba won't be cheap, with the transfer fee being the biggest roadblock for this massive transfer.
Theo Hernandez
With both Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia failing to impress at Real Madrid, the club could look to bring back a former player when the summer transfer window rolls around.
Theo Hernandez left Los Blancos in 2019 for a new venture at AC Milan where he has established himself as one of the top left-back in Europe.
The fullback's contract expires in 2026 and with AC Milan struggling for form this season, the Italian club could look to sell him this summer to recoup some of their funds and avoid losing him on a free transfer.
