Bayern Munich plan to make a hefty €25m investment in a move which would not be good for a long-standing Real Madrid transfer plan.
Real Madrid remain relatively quiet in the January transfer window. While they have strengthened for the future, they have not added to their first team in ways which many would have envisioned heading into the window.
However, it has never really been Real Madrid's approach to be reactionary in the market. They are far more prudent than this as it takes a lot for Florentino Perez to divert from his original transfer plan.
This is partly the reason why Real Madrid have been the most dominant force in European football for the last few decades. They know what they want and they very rarely stop before getting it.
Bayern Munich make €25m investment to block Real Madrid transfer plan
According to a report from Marca, Bayern Munich are prepared to offer €25m per year to Alphonso Davies, in a pay package which would make him the second highest earner at Bayern, second only to Harry Kane.
It is also stated within the report that Alphonso Davies is aware of how far Real Madrid will go with their offering. Real Madrid will not offer as high as the Bavarian club, yet this won't entirely sway Davies' decision. Bayern will continue to give Davies leeway until he makes the decision on his future.
At this point, it would be surprising if Real Madrid do end up signing Alphonso Davies. Not only have Real had a poor season but this transfer carousel has taken too many swings for my liking. To me, it just screams that he'll be staying at Bayern Munich.
Of course, I'm open to being proven wrong but it's unlike players to take the lowest financial option given to them. Understandably so, given this is their career like anyone else's.
