Mohamed Salah's high praise of a Real Madrid target just perfectly explained why the La Liga giants need to make him their priority this summer. The Liverpool forward's own future is uncertain despite signing a new two-year deal last year.

Madrid aren't interested in signing Salah who has bounced back from a difficult period and refound form. The Egyptian star scored and assisted in the Reds' 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup on Saturday night.

Salah's assist came when he set up Dominik Szoboslzai who scored yet another sensational goal. The Hungarian has been in scintillating form this season and has reportedly garnered interest from Los Blancos.

Real Madrid target hailed by Liverpool's Salah

Szoboszlai's goal took his tally for the season to 10 goals and seven assists in 35 games across competitions. He has been far and away Liverpool's best player and Salah believes he is the best in the world.

Salah spoke highly of the 25-year-old midfielder following the win over Brighton. He told TNT Sports that his side's chances of winning the FA Cup rest on their Hungarian:

"I think it will depend on his (Szoboszlai's) performance because we rely on him so much this season. He's one of the best players in the world right now!"

Szoboszlai has been linked with Madrid in recent weeks with reports claiming that the La Liga club could offer Eduardo Camavinga as a makeweight in a deal for the Hungary captain. The Reds are believed to value their star man at £140m which is a hefty fee.

Hungary's national team manager, Marco Rossi, added fuel to the flames ahead of that game with a Los Blancos claim over his country's skipper. He said:

"Szoboszlai always had one single dream in his life: to play for Real Madrid. I've known him since he was a little boy who just started playing, and his dream was always Real Madrid."

Szoboszlai has two years left on his contract with Liverpool having joined the club from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023. He is thought to be demanding a new deal that represents his status in the team.

Real Madrid must make Szoboszlai their top target

Madrid will be signing a new midfielder this summer and a world class profile should be the priority. They have been linked with PSG's Vitinha and an improved relationship between Florentino Perez and Nasser Al-Khelaifi could help make negotiations for the Portuguese easier.

Szoboslzai should now be at the top of Perez's wishlist not just because of his stellar showings this season. He offers a more versatile profile, able to play at right-back and in multiple midfield positions.

Whether a deal for the Hungarian is possible remains to be seen, although his contract situation could be beneficial. Using Camavinga could also work a charm given the Reds have previously shown interest in the Frenchman.
